5 Signs Your Not Drinking Enough Water

ree

Although most of us know how important hydration is, many people still don't drink enough water throughout the day. Our bodies contain 60% water and it helps regulate temperature, support digestion, and move nutrients. When you're not drinking enough, your body starts sending warning signs. Here are five signs.

1. You're Constantly Tired

Dehydration slows your circulation and affects how your organs work. This can lead to that moody feeling, where you feel mentally and physically drained. If you're sleeping well but still feel exhausted during the day, try drinking a glass of water each time.

2. You Frequently Get Headaches

Water is very essential for your brain to function. When you're dehydrated, your brain can temporarily shrink due to fluid loss which causes pain. Dehydration is a common reason for headaches, and it's one of the easiest to fix. Next time you feel a headache coming on, drink some water before turning to medication.

3. Dry Mouth and Bad Breath

Saliva helps keep your mouth clean and prevents bacteria from growing. Your mouth dries out when your low on fluids, allowing bacteria to grow and causing bad breath. Dry mouth can also raise your risk for cavities and gum disease. If you wake up with bad breath each day, consider drinking more water throughout the day.

4. Your Skin Looks Dull

Water helps keep your skin hydrated from the inside out. If you're not drinking enough, your skin may become dry and feel itchy. Dehydrated skin can look tired and show more fine lines. While moisturizers help your skin, proper hydration starts with what you're consuming.

5. Infrequent Bathroom Trips

One of the most obvious signs of dehydration is dark-colored urine. Your body tries to conserve water, so urine becomes more concentrated. Ideally, urine should be a pale yellow. If you're not going to the bathroom every 3 to 4 hours, that's another sign your water intake might be too low.
