We all know candy and sodas aren’t great for your teeth. But there are many times we damage our teeth stuff in ways we don’t even think twice about. Here are five actions that could be wearing down your teeth.
1. Chewing Ice
Although it may seem harmless, ice can be hard enough to crack or chip teeth over time. Ice also wears down enamel, the protective layer of your teeth.
2. Brushing Too Hard
Many people can brush too vigorously. Using too much strength or a hard-bristled brush can wear away your enamel and hurt your gums.
3. Constant Snacking
Even healthy snacks can raise your risk of cavities if you eat them all day. Constant snacking gives bacteria more chances to produce acid in your mouth.
4. Using Teeth as Tools
Opening bottles or tearing packaging with your teeth can damage them. They are not scissors and shouldn’t be used like that.
5. Sipping Sugary Drinks Slowly
Drinking soda or juice slowly is worse than finishing it quickly. The longer sugar stays on your teeth, the more damage it can cause.
